About the role:

Reporting to the Eraring Closure Approvals Manager, you will be the lead approvals pathway for the project, guiding it through a complex regulatory environment spanning NSW and Commonwealth jurisdictions to secure the approvals required for safe and compliant demolition and rehabilitation. Based on-site at Eraring, you will work closely with the broader closure team, playing a central role in one of the country's most closely watched energy transition initiatives.

  • Lead the identification, planning and delivery of NSW and Commonwealth environmental and planning approvals for the Eraring Closure
  • Provide regulatory risk assessment and strategic advice to guide approval pathways, ensuring closure studies and designs appropriately inform environmental assessments
  • Coordinate the preparation of environmental impact assessments and associated technical and field studies
  • Manage key regulatory relationships and contribute to stakeholder and community engagement activities
  • Operate effectively within a complex environment involving multiple regulators and stakeholders, environmental and legal considerations, and a broad range of internal stakeholders

 

What will you bring?

 

  • Substantial experience securing  and working within environmental and planning approvals, ideally within the energy, heavy industry or resources sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal statutory processes (EPBC Act) and NSW environmental/planning approval frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and consulting with, and presenting to, regulatory and stakeholder bodies
  • Contamination and/or water-related expertise highly regarded
  • Sound judgement, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage regulatory risk within a high-profile, multi-stakeholder project
  • Willingness to be based at, or relocate to, Eraring; relocation support is available for the right candidate
