THE ROLE
The Shift Lead at the Bulwer Island terminal is responsible for driving effective leadership and management by executing local tasks that align with business strategies and objectives.
This role requires proficiency in various operational activities, including filling cylinders and unloading ships, to support the team. Additionally, the Shift Lead ensures the safe maintenance of LPG assets, oversees day-to-day operations, implements local improvements, and maintains compliance with regulations.
They will also support the Asset Delivery Manager in analyzing performance data to achieve specific location and national goals.
Regular hours are from 2PM to 9:30PM, Monday to Friday, but flexibility is required for LPG vessel discharges, which may occur outside these hours.
This role will also be responsible for:
- Visible Leadership: Provide consistent leadership across the area of responsibility, ensuring alignment with the LPG strategy.
- Operational Oversight: Lead shipping operations as the 'Shore Officer,' available to respond to needs 24/7.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure the terminal and fleet are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with relevant regulations, including the Petroleum & Gas Safety and Production Act.
- Business Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on growth, safety, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of a 5-year plan for terminal maintenance, upgrades, and capital investments.
- Change Management: Anticipate changes and risks, adapting to business needs to achieve strategic objectives.
- Audit and Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with internal and external audits, licensing, and regulatory bodies.
- Shutdown and Throughput Management: Oversee planned shutdowns and manage throughput, ensuring effective resource allocation and organization.
- Customer Focus: Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer needs.
- Performance Monitoring: Measure daily operations and monthly performance metrics, adhering to the Quality Improvement Process.
- Training and Development: Ensure compliance with operating procedures and training requirements for all personnel.
- Contractor Management: Oversee contractor compliance with directives and policies.
IS THIS YOU?
We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in people management and managing a Major Hazard Facility.
You will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar industry managing people and the execution of maintenance or production in heavy industry
- Permit Authority & Shore Officer (or willingness to obtain)
- Cert IV Trainer & Assessor Qualified (or the willingness to obtain)
- Foklift licence desirable
- Management experience – manages and leads team by example to deliver business outcomes
- Safety focus - demonstrates a strong safety culture
- Inspirational – Presenting a positive approach to objectives and LPG strategy; persuasive and motivating team to want to achieve results
- Change and Agility skills: Makes decisions quickly and implements change effectively; Displays personal flexibility; Deals with uncertainty and ambiguity; Inspires people through change
