About the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Test Engineer - Automation to join our delivery team.

In this role, you will champion quality across the software development lifecycle by designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks and suites. As a servant leader in quality, you will collaborate closely with developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and UX to ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and meet customer expectations.

You will play a critical role in accelerating delivery while safeguarding customer experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test suites for web, mobile, and API platforms.
  • Build and optimise test frameworks that enable continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Ensure automation coverage across functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Continuously enhance automation practices by adopting modern tools, libraries, and coding standards.

Quality Practices & Collaboration

  • Partner with developers and Business Analysts early in the lifecycle to define testable acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and delivery team to ensure backlog items have clear quality expectations.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and gaps in coverage, and work with the team to address them.
  • Advocate for shift-left testing practices, embedding quality from the start of solution design.
  • Support manual exploratory testing where required to complement automation coverage.

Continuous Improvement & Delivery

  • Contribute to the team’s agile ceremonies, providing quality insights during planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Use metrics and reporting to provide visibility on quality trends, automation coverage, and release readiness.
  • Actively troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, working with developers to identify root causes.
  • Promote a culture of quality by coaching team members on test automation practices and tools.

Skills & Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a QA Automation Engineer or similar role in agile software delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, RestAssured).
  • Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into build and release processes.
  • Experience testing APIs, microservices, and integrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
