About the role:
Join Origin’s Energy Trading Technology team as a Senior QA Automation Engineer, where you’ll help deliver and support critical IT systems that enable robust, efficient interaction with energy markets.
In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions, embedding quality practices early in the development lifecycle to ensure reliable software delivery.
You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the ETRM landscape and delivery teams, leveraging your expertise in automation tools and frameworks to drive continuous improvement and align testing strategies with business goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide testing (automation and manual), and support services for ETRM systems across all phases of the software development lifecycle with particular focus on:
- test strategy and planning
- functional and non-functional test analysis
- test case planning, design, and execution of both automated and manual tests
- design and implementation of automated test frameworks
- creation and maintenance of test scripts
- creation and maintenance of test data sets for automated test execution
- review of test code, documentation, and handover materials
- execution and maintenance of automated regression suites
- integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- preparation of test-related technical documentation
- Create test automation outcomes ensuring alignment with business goals, quality standards, and testing strategy.
- Assist leads and managers in establishing and enforcing best practices for QA processes, test automation, including framework design, coding standards, and test data management.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on test automation tools, processes, and emerging technologies, driving innovation and influencing cross-functional teams on quality engineering practices.
- Work effectively with business analysis, development, and architectural teams to ensure quality is embedded in the functional and technical direction of Energy Trading Technology systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, frameworks, and toolchains, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Provide insight and reporting on test progress, with clear attribution to deliverables, test coverage, and overall quality metrics.
Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks in enterprise environments.
- Skilled in programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Robot Framework.
- Strong knowledge of API testing (REST/GraphQL) using tools such as Postman or RestAssured.
- Experienced in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins) with Git-based version control.
- Proficient in SQL for test data analysis, preparation, and database integration.
- Familiar with cloud environments (preferably AWS) and Agile delivery practices with a focus on quality throughout the lifecycle.
