About the role

As Principal – Decisioning Intelligence, you’ll lead the design of the data, models and intelligence that underpin credit decisions across approximately four million Origin energy customers. Working within Credit & Collections, you’ll turn complex data into practical strategies that reduce arrears and bad debt while supporting fair, effective customer outcomes.Your work will span the customer credit lifecycle—from credit and fraud checks at sign-up through to payment support and collections. You’ll combine technical expertise with commercial judgement, partnering across teams to deliver strategies, measure their impact and continually improve how we make decisions. You’ll also set analytical standards, mentor Decision Intelligence Leads and guide the function through its most complex challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and maintain decisioning models covering payment propensity, hardship risk, customer segmentation, next best action and bad-debt drivers.
  • Identify and quantify credit opportunities, translating insights into targeted strategies across originations, arrears, hardship and collections.
  • Build reliable credit data assets and automated pipelines using SQL, Python and AI-enabled tools, and manage credit bureau data products supporting credit and fraud decisions.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to implement strategies, run controlled experiments and measure improvements in payment and bad-debt outcomes.
  • Set technical standards, coach others and ensure models and strategies are explainable, well governed and aligned with regulatory obligations and customer protections.

About you

You bring deep credit domain knowledge alongside strong analytical and technical capability. You’re comfortable working through ambiguity, challenging assumptions and translating complex findings into clear actions. You understand how to balance commercial performance with regulatory requirements and customer fairness.

You’ll bring:

  • A strong track record delivering data-driven credit risk, collections and operational decisioning strategies in complex or regulated environments.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills, with experience in predictive modelling, segmentation, automation and cloud platforms such as AWS and Redshift.
  • Experience building and managing operational data assets, decision engines and workflows, with a focus on data quality, governance and measurable outcomes.
