The Head of Product Development - Product Architecture is a pivotal senior leader accountable for designing and delivering Origin’s next‑generation product portfolio, setting a new benchmark for customer‑centred energy solutions.

With significant autonomy, this role translates strategy, customer insight, market dynamics, and regulatory complexity into scalable, commercially robust products that drive growth, retention, and differentiation.

Beyond delivery, this role shapes Origin’s product capability and influences the strategic decisions that will define the future of Residential energy.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Own the design and execution of Origin’s new Residential product architecture, delivering coherent, customer‑centred value propositions that drive adoption, growth, customer advocacy, tenure and brand preference.
• Full accountability from product discovery through to launch, scale and optimisation, ensuring clear customer value, strong economics, operational feasibility and regulatory compliance.  
• Drive commercial evaluation and investment decisions for new Residential products, balancing revenue, margin, cost‑to‑serve, capital implications, speed‑to‑market and risk exposure. 
• Champion a deeply customer‑led, evidence‑based approach to product development, leveraging research, experimentation and market insight to identify and deliver innovative energy solutions across electrification, solar, batteries, EVs and flexible energy offerings.
• Act as a senior authority on product decisions, establishing disciplined product governance, managing risk and ensuring alignment with Origin’s regulatory obligations and risk appetite.
• Build and lead a high‑performing product development capability, setting modern product practices, clear performance expectations and continuous improvement across Residential product teams.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to Retail leadership, influencing outcomes across Technology, Marketing, Operations, Customer Experience and Finance to shape Origin’s Residential product future.

About you

You are a seasoned product development leader who combines strong team leadership with a deeply customer-centric approach, translating real customer problems into scalable, high-impact products. Furthermore, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience designing, developing and scaling new products or services within large, complex organisations, delivering material customer and commercial impact.
• Proven experience product development or product management, including several years in senior leadership roles leading teams, portfolios or value propositions.
• Demonstrated success delivering large‑scale, complex products, with strong accountability for outcomes across adoption, growth, margin and customer experience.
• Strong strategic and commercial acumen, including investment case development, portfolio prioritisation and disciplined decision‑making.
• Ability to influence and engage senior leaders across complex, matrixed organisations, supported by exceptional executive communication and judgement.
• Experience in technology, digital products, energy, telecommunications or financial services is preferred, alongside a strong understanding of modern product practices (e.g. agile, human‑centred design, product marketing).
