About the role

At Origin Zero, we’re building the solutions that will help Australia’s largest businesses decarbonise, electrify and future‑proof their operations.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a market‑shaping leadership role at the intersection of the energy transition, M&A and complex commercial execution.

As Head of Commercial Embedded Networks, you’ll be accountable for building and scaling Origin Zero’s embedded networks portfolio, guiding high‑value inorganic growth, negotiating complex capital‑intensive deals, and shaping the future of Origin’s “Energy‑as‑a‑Service” model.

With large scale opportunities and capital programs, this role is designed for a commercial professional who thrives on scale, complexity and impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Identify, prioritise and execute large‑scale embedded network opportunities across enterprise customers
• Drive complex deal structuring, negotiation and execution (including M&A and co‑investment models)
• Partner with major financiers to identify optimal funding structures
• Own commercial, operational and market risk across the embedded networks portfolio
• Guide investment business cases and approvals through Origin’s Investment Committee
• Build and support high‑performing commercial, bid and relationship management capability
• Influence Origin Zero’s evolution from energy reseller to integrated energy solutions partner

What will you bring?

You are a highly credible, commercial professional with the confidence, judgement and influence to operate at executive and board level. You are energised by complexity, motivated by impact, and known for your ability to bring together diverse stakeholders to deliver outcomes that genuinely move the dial.

You combine deep commercial acumen with exceptional interpersonal capability, allowing you to navigate ambiguity, question constructively, and build trust across customers, partners, financiers and internal stakeholders. You will also demonstrate:

• Experience across energy, infrastructure or complex B2B environments, operating at enterprise scale
• Proven success leading large, complex and capital‑intensive deals, including M&A, joint ventures or co‑investment structures
• Strong commercial and financial judgement, with the ability to balance risk, return and long‑term strategic value
• Experience shaping and negotiating non‑standard commercial arrangements and contractual frameworks
• Confidence engaging with senior executives, investors, financiers and boards, with the credibility to influence outcomes
• Exceptional relationship‑building capability, with a track record of forming long‑term strategic partnerships
• Clear, compelling communication and able to translate complex commercial and technical concepts into clear and actionable.
• Strong decision‑making capability under uncertainty, grounded in data, experience and commercial insight
• A collaborative leadership style that develops capability, builds trust and drives accountability at scale

Highly regarded experience:

• Corporate finance, investment or structured finance background
• Product or proposition development in complex or emerging markets
• Exposure to ASX100 or similarly sophisticated corporate environments
