About the role:
Origin Zero contracts at volume and at scale – with installers, manufacturers, suppliers, energy service companies, and customers across our growing distributed energy business. As Contracts Lead, you'll run the contracting function that underpins all of it, leading a team of five and acting as the commercial authority that the business relies on to get deals done well.
You'll manage a diverse and high-volume portfolio – from customer agreements through to complex contracts and MSP and EV supply arrangements, with individual contracts ranging from a few million up to $20M. The commercial exposure is real, and so is the pace.
You'll lead negotiations, own contract governance and risk management frameworks, and work closely with operational teams, sales, and delivery to keep the commercial engine running. Critically, you'll also be looking for ways to improve – this role owns the efficiency agenda for how Origin Zero drafts, manages and renews contracts, including the adoption of technology and AI to lift throughput without lifting headcount.

- You'll lead the contracting function across Origin Zero's most commercially significant relationships – MSP, EV, installer, supplier and customer contracts – with genuine P&L exposure and complexity.
- As a proven people leader, you'll develop a team of five contract professionals and build commercial capability across the broader business.
- You'll be the trusted commercial voice for senior leaders across Field Operations, Sales and Business Development - the person they call when a deal is complicated or a contract is at risk.
- Origin Zero's contract portfolio is growing in volume. You'll have the opportunity to reshape how we draft, manage and renew contracts - including driving continuous improvement and technology adoption to make the function more efficient.
- You'll lead high-stakes negotiations with commercial partners, balancing risk allocation, liability and commercial outcomes across multiple contract tiers simultaneously
What will you bring?
- Significant experience in contract management, commercial law or procurement – Ideally in energy, infrastructure or construction – with a track record of leading complex, high-value contracting outcomes.
- Proven people leadership: you've built and developed contracts teams and know how to lift commercial capability in the people around you.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, including experience with FECM contracts or similar energy customer and commercial arrangements, and an understanding of back-to-back contract structures across supply and customer tiers.
- Procurement knowledge as it relates to contract management, understanding how sourcing decisions and supplier relationships shape contractual risk.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with interest or experience in using technology, including AI, to improve the efficiency of contract drafting and management processes.
- The ability to engage and direct legal advisers effectively, translating complex legal positions into practical commercial decisions for non-legal stakeholders
