About the Role

At Origin, we're reimagining how technology teams deliver value. We're looking for a Functional Analyst who embraces AI as a delivery partner and enjoys working collaboratively from discovery through to delivery.This isn't a traditional business analyst role. Rather than writing specifications and handing work to developers, you'll work alongside traders, product owners and engineers to lead discovery, shape requirements, support build and testing, and validate solutions against business and AEMO market requirements. Using AI to accelerate analysis and improve delivery, you'll help solve complex business problems while continuously improving the way we work across our Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discovery workshops with traders and business stakeholders using AI-assisted research and facilitation.
• Translate business needs into clear, implementation-lifecycle, contributing to mob sessions, reviewing AI-generated solutions and validating functionality against business and AEMO market requirements.
• Develop and execute functional test scenarios using AI-assisted test generation, applying critical thinking to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Build trusted relationships across trading, product and technology teams to drive collaborative delivery.
• Maintain and continuously improve the team's AI skills, prompts, glossaries and delivery playbooks.
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery practices and actively review AI outputs for quality, accuracy and hallucination risk.

About You

• Experience as a Functional Analyst or Business Analyst in Agile software delivery teams.
• Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and requirements analysis skills.
• Experience translating complex business problems into practical technology solutions.
• Analytical skills, including experience with data analysis and SQL.Experience in Energy Trading, Risk Management or other complex operational environments is highly regarded.

Most importantly, you:

• Treat AI as a collaborator that requires direction and judgement—not a replacement for critical thinking.
• Critically evaluate AI outputs and understand that confident doesn't always mean correct.
• Enjoy working collaboratively with developers and product teams from discovery through to delivery.
• Look for opportunities to redesign delivery processes with AI embedded, rather than simply automating existing ways of working.
