About the Role

At Origin, we're transforming the way we serve our customers and creating better energy experiences for people, communities and the planet. As a Support & Test Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the quality, stability and performance of platforms that support our customers and teams. Working closely with cross-functional development teams, you will be responsible for end-to-end testing across new and existing features, building and maintaining automation frameworks, and supporting the continuous improvement of our testing practices. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, collaboration and working in a fast-paced agile environment. You'll also work at the frontier of AI-assisted engineering — leveraging agentic coding tools and MCP-connected workflows to accelerate delivery and raise the quality bar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end testing across new and existing platform features
  • Develop and maintain automated test cases to maximise test coverage
  • Build and maintain Playwright-based automation frameworks, including integration with Playwright MCP for AI-driven browser automation and agent-assisted test generation
  • Leverage agentic coding tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate test authoring, code review and framework improvementsIntegrate MCP servers (Slack, Jira, Confluence, Postman and others) into testing and triage workflows to streamline defect reporting and test visibility
  • Design and execute LLM output testing — validating AI-generated responses for accuracy, consistency, safety and regression across model updates
  • Support continuous improvement of automation processes and testing practicesCollaborate with Developers, Product Owners and Business Analysts across the full delivery lifecycle
  • Configure, manage and maintain test environments and test dataIdentify, investigate and support resolution of defects and customer issues
  • Assist with API and performance testing across platforms

About You

You are a collaborative and adaptable Test Engineer with a passion for quality engineering and continuous improvement. You enjoy working across teams, solving problems and finding smarter ways to improve processes and customer outcomes — including harnessing the latest AI-assisted tooling to do it faster and smarter.

You will bring:

  • Experience writing UI automation tests using Playwright, including working with Playwright MCP for agentic and AI-assisted browser automation
  • Familiarity with agentic coding assistants such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development and code quality
  • Experience or strong interest in LLM output testing — evaluating AI-generated content for correctness, determinism, safety guardrails and regression behaviour
  • Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub
  • API testing experience using Postman or similar tools, including MCP-connected Postman workflows
  • Knowledge of Docker and monitoring tools such as Grafana
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments, ideally gained in the energy sector or large transformation programs
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail, aproactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously and the ability to adapt and thrive in changing or ambiguous environments
