As we expand the way that we serve Australians – including providing internet, new products, and more to come – your next challenge could be closer than you think right here at Origin.
About the role
We’re seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to join our Melbourne-based TechHub team, supporting a high-volume, frontline environment.
Melbourne is one of our busiest sites, with greater complexity and more walk-up support than other locations. This role provides hands-on Level 2 support, helping resolve day-to-day technology issues so our people can stay productive.
While some requests are recurring, the work is people-focused and relies on strong listening, clear communication and follow-through. This role is primarily onsite and works within an autonomous, collaborative team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing onsite and remote Level 2 desktop support to end users
- Resolving incidents and service requests escalated from Level 1 using ServiceNow
- Supporting Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook and Teams
- Troubleshooting hardware, workstation and peripheral issues
- Communicating clearly with users and working with other IT teams when escalation is needed
About you
You’re at your best in people-facing support roles, where listening well and following issues through matters just as much as technical skill. You stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and take ownership of resolving issues — even when the work is repetitive or fast-paced.
You’ll bring:
- Experience working in a frontline, customer-facing support role where you’ve handled a high volume of recurring requests
- The ability to prioritise and manage multiple issues at once while maintaining a positive, professional approach
- Clear communication skills, with confidence explaining issues and solutions to non-technical users
- A learning mindset, including knowing when to ask for help and how to work collaboratively to resolve more complex issues
