About the role 

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Lawyer to join Origin’s Melbourne-based legal team, where you will provide strategic legal support across Origin Zero and Origin Retail’s, Community Energy Solutions and New Property team. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting Origin‘s offerings of energy contracts, solar and battery solutions, EV products, embedded networks, and lower carbon products. 

 

You will work collaboratively with senior legal leadership and multidisciplinary teams, delivering commercially sound legal counsel to facilitate confident and informed decision-making. Your expertise will contribute to shaping products, customer offerings, and partnerships that empower Australian organisations to transition their energy usage and achieve their carbon reduction goals. 

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Providing legal advice across Origin Zero’s customer product suite, including electricity, gas, solar & batteries, lower‑carbon solutions, EV products, and embedded networks. 

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial customer contracts. 

  • Delivering legal advice on regulatory obligations, including trade licences, retail exemptions, electricity & gas regulation, and the Australian Consumer Law. 

  • Partnering with business stakeholders to proactively identify risks and add commercial value. 

 

What will you bring?  

  • Qualification & admission as an Australian lawyer 

  • 4+ years PQE 

  • Strong commercial contracting expertise 

  • Excellent judgment, communication and stakeholder management skills 

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 

  • Exposure to the Australian energy regulatory framework (desirable)  

  • Experience with construction, projects, or CCA matters (desirable)
