About the Role

 

As an Operations & Maintenance Engineer – Electrical, you’ll play a key technical leadership role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Shoalhaven Pumped Hydro scheme. Working as part of a multi-skilled team, you’ll provide technical and operational leadership across electrical systems, maintenance, asset health, outages and continuous improvement. Your key focus will be on strengthening long-term performance and asset integrity for a major renewable energy facility whilst supporting day-to-day plant operations.

This role is central to maintaining the reliability and performance of the Shoalhaven hydro-electric assets by:

  • Ensuring safe, compliant and effective plant operations and maintenance.
  • Driving improvements in asset health, reliability and condition monitoring.
  • Leading defect elimination, problem-solving and risk-reduction initiatives.
  • Coordinating outages, capital projects and contractor activities.
  • Enhancing systems, processes and data to support long-term operational excellence.

 

What will you bring?

 

You’ll bring technical depth, strong safety leadership and the ability to work across a complex operational environment, including:

  • Electrical engineering degree with experience in power generation or heavy industry; hydro generation experience highly regarded, with Professional Engineer registration (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong leadership aligned with Origin’s Values & Behaviours, fostering a positive, inclusive site culture and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated capability across maintenance, operations, outage planning, contractor coordination, and delivery through project, financial, and change management systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, working effectively with Origin technical teams, contractors, and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of safe work systems (permits, isolations, high-risk work) combined with well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and operational decision-making skills.
