About the role:

Join our team at Origin Energy as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Newcastle. Unleash your innovative thinking and engineering expertise to support the Asset Management of our power station fleet. You'll play a vital role in ensuring process safety, optimising asset performance, and enhancing plant availability and reliability. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging your exceptional stakeholder management skills to provide innovative solutions for operational efficiency and reliability. Make a significant impact on shaping a greener and more sustainable future, contributing to the long-term sustainability of our power stations.
 

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of geotechnical and civil asset management strategies for Origin's generating sites, ensuring long-term sustainability.
  • Support overhaul works through geotechnical and civil scoping, providing technical oversight for optimal asset performance.
  • Implement condition monitoring techniques to proactively identify maintenance and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive successful execution of capital works through quality processes and engineering estimations.
  • Lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and designs, with a particular focus on tailings management.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into project designs, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, continuously enhancing technical capabilities

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, specialising in tailings dam engineering within power, process, or heavy industry sectors
  • Specific expertise in tailings management, particularly with ash, and familiarity with brownfield industrial environments
  • Current or eligible for CPEng and RPEQ professional registrations
  • Proficient in geotechnical analysis software and strong analytical skills for accurate civil/geotechnical inputs
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including technical oversight, safety management, and providing guidance to teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively in diverse project teams
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet project needs
