About the role
 

The Senior Contracts & Commercial Specialist will support the Contracts and Commercial Manager in overseeing multiple high-value contracts (ranging from $100m to $450m AUD) related to the Eraring Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Projects. This role requires extensive knowledge and experience in contracts and commercial management, particularly within the Development and Construction team.
 

This role will also be responsible for:
 

• Contract Management: Oversee contract performance, ensure compliance, and manage reviews.
• Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers.
• Financial Oversight: Monitor contract terms, financial obligations, and budget adherence.
• Risk Management: Participate in risk reviews and develop mitigation strategies.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties.
• Leadership & Compliance: Promote Origin’s Values and ensure compliance with policies.
• Process Improvement: Implement systems for knowledge sharing and change control.

• Contractual Guidance: Act as primary contact for high-value contract issues and provide recommendations.
• Claims Management: Review and advise on significant claims and variations.
• Risk & Scope Management: Handle scope, variation, and interface risks.
• Technical Collaboration: Work on contract-related technical, legal, and financial matters.
• Insurance Coordination: Manage insurance requirements and claims.
• Dispute Resolution: Support in resolving disputes with external contractors and consultants.
• Procurement & Documentation: Administer contracts and maintain documentation in procurement systems.
• Contract Innovations: Support innovations and ensure alignment with long-term strategy.

What will you bring?
 

You will have:
 

• Demonstrated experience in a Contracts/Commercial role
• Ideally a construction main contracting background
• University Degree or Qualification in Contracts, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying
• Ideally experienced in formal dispute resolution and/or mediation
• Experience in managing projects valued over $500 million (locally or internationally)
