About the role
We are seeking a Well Engineer to drive Well Intervention operations within Origin's critical Workover & Well Integrity team, supporting the backbone of APLNG gas production. This role involves full-cycle project management: from evaluating well designs and creating detailed workover programs to overseeing safe, efficient operational execution on increasingly complex wells. You will also be key to managing well integrity (including risk assessment and remediation strategy) and engaging in new technology deployments across artificial lift and life extension programs. This is primarily an office-based role with expected travel to the field
Key Responsibilities
- Well design and liaison with Production Engineering Team

Operational program preparation
-
Interfacing with Origin Well Site Representatives (WSR’s) to execute well programs and objectives

Utilise the Management of Change (MOC) Framework to manage operational changes/program deviations
-
Ensuring all well designs and workover operations comply with Origin Standards and government regulations

Continuous improvement of Origin’s Workover operations
-
Support and or manage deployment of new approaches and technology in workover operations and completion well design and artificial lift.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Materials or equivalent)

RPEQ required (or ability to register within 6 months)

Strong knowledge of relevant engineering discipline

Experience in CSG or upstream oil & gas industry is desirable
-
Experience in risk-based inspection and fitness for service assessments
-
Experience in failure analysis, and developing and implementing asset integrity strategies
-
Knowledge of defect elimination process (e.g., RCA)
-
Adequate experience in Corrosion Management and FMEA
Desirable

Completions & Workover engineering / operational experience within Queensland CSG industry.

Previous portion of carreer spent in the field on the operational front line.

Experienced and conversant in other upstream technical disciplines such as petroleum engineering, projects construction, geoscience and environment.

High level understanding of holistic multi-disciplinary oil and gas upstream development and operating business.

An interest and/or skillset in automation / digitalisation.
