About the role:

ETRM-IT (Energy Trading Risk Management) is an area of the business that is responsible for the on-going development of a custom-built software that allows Origin’s asset portfolio to make prompt, correct and robust interactions with the energy markets for which Origin participates in.

This role will join a high performing team of 2-3 squads that consists of developers, testers business analyst and Delivery Manager to provide ongoing support and maintenance

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Own end-to-end technical solutions, including design, in-depth code-level analysis, development, testing, and deployment of ETRM IT systems across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Deliver expert 2nd and 3rd level application support, driving automation to reduce manual processes and improve system reliability in line with service level agreements.
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced enhancements and technical solutions that strengthen and modernise both on-premise and cloud-based platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders, clearly communicating technical approaches, timelines, and progress to ensure alignment and business impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to optimise systems, streamline processes, and enhance documentation and operational practices.
  • Build trusted partnerships across teams, promoting a responsive, high-performance service culture that supports Origin’s dynamic business environment.

 

Skills & Requirements

 

  • Demonstrated experience developing applications using the Microsoft .NET framework, with strong expertise in C# and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), ideally including serverless technologies such as Lambda.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including database design and optimisation.
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices, design patterns, and modern engineering methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, with a willingness to participate in an after-hours support roster.
