About the role:

The Senior Specialist – Contracts is an influential role that sits within Procurement Services Team, providing demonstrable knowledge, experience, and expertise within the Procurement Discipline across the Procurement Lifecycle Management framework and processes. The incumbent applies their strong contracting and contract management knowledge in working with stakeholders across various Origin business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivery of tactical contracting and contract management activities aligned with Category Plans and BU needs
• Empower Contract Owners by developing contract management plans with structured monitoring and reporting.
• Lead contract reviews, compliance checks, and participate in negotiations for various agreements.
• Understand Origin’s commercial objectives, financial drivers, and market conditions to deliver impactful contracts.
• Proactively identify potential commercial risks (e.g., penalties, non-compliance) and implement mitigation strategies.
• Develop strong supplier relationships to gain market insights and inform contracting strategies.
• Utilise management and performance tools to align tactical work with strategic goals and KPIs, driving efficiency.
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE legislation and promote awareness, including driving optimal HSE performance from contractors.

What will you bring? 

You will role model Origin’s values, be self-driven, with ability to be proactive and take initiative. A team player with ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people across levels, building positive, productive working relationships. 

• 5-10+ years' experience in a Procurement or Commercial team, demonstrating strong commercial and business acumen.
• Proven experience in procurement, negotiating with suppliers, and drafting contract terms and conditions.
• Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Solid knowledge and experience with procurement systems (e.g., Ariba, SAP S/4HANA).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to report clearly and concisely.
• Self-motivated, setting ambitious performance standards and taking accountability for task completion.
• Exceptional at establishing and managing relationships across all levels, both internal and external.
• Ability to think strategically, apply logic and judgment to define, analyse, and resolve complex issues.
