About the role:

Join the Origin Retail Division as a Senior Management Accountant and play a pivotal role in driving financial integrity, performance, and strategic decision-making across our Energy Markets portfolio.

 

You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting, financial control and performance analysis for the Internet portfolio, partnering closely with Commercial and Senior Leaders to optimise revenue, wholesale costs, CTA/CTS Opex, and overall business outcomes.

 

This is a high-impact opportunity to influence strategy, enhance governance, and champion continuous improvement through technology and automation. 

 

This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity.  

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead strategic financial planning across the Origin Internet portfolio, delivering the annual plan, budgets, forecasts and long‑term financial models aligned to Origin Energy’s strategy and commercial objectives.
  • Own end‑to‑end financial reporting and governance, including monthly EBIT, Balance Sheet and Cash reporting, ensuring data integrity across SAP, IBM and Tableau, with strong controls, audit readiness and HSE compliance.
  • Provide high‑quality commercial insight and decision support through robust financial modelling, scenario analysis and clear articulation of performance drivers, risks and opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the Origin Internet Extended Leadership Team to uplift commercial acumen, constructively challenge assumptions, align performance to strategy and present insights to senior stakeholders and investor forums.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation by optimising processes, systems and controls to improve accuracy, efficiency and scalability, while embedding innovative and smarter ways of working.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team culture by coaching and developing a Management Accountant, setting clear expectations and KPIs, prioritising effectively, and delivering high‑quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.

 

What will you bring?  

 

You are a CA/CPA qualified, with demonstrated experience in a financial or commercial role in a large enterprise organisation with strong data analytics capability, including proficiency in SQL and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

 

  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on best practice and smarter ways of working.
  • Ability to coach and support junior team members.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Economics, with CA or CPA qualification.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including data, process and management reporting analysis.
  • Solid technical accounting capability, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and clear written and verbal communication.
