About the role
A key role reporting to the Integrated Development Lead is responsible for designing and optimising conceptual upstream gathering networks for Asset West. The role enables the ongoing connection of CSG wells and associated infrastructure utilising both the Gain Access Process and the Deliver Wells Process.
The position adds value and reduces risk by interfacing between multiple groups to design and influence an optimised gathering network.
Please note this is a contingent contracting position.
More about the role
- Prepare gathering network layout and associated infrastructure including well locations, power distribution and service roads in accordance with schedule timing and scope requirements for new projects and development packages.
- Provide clear explanation of construction and design purpose of gathering network designs within Gain Access guidelines.
- Guide, and collaborate with, field scouting teams to ensure that new surface equipment is placed in appropriate locations and meets all environment and external stakeholder requirements.
- Provide support to Land Relation Advisors to assist landholder liaison.
- Maintain a record of documentation that justifies design and infrastructure placement to enable compliance to statutory obligations.
- Utilisation of GIS Database editing and recording processes.
- Role model Origin health, safety and environment behaviour and attitude.
- Comply with any relevant legislation, codes of practice, policies and standards that may apply.

More about you
- Degree in Surveying, Geospatial Science or Geographical Information Systems or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in working on oil & gas surface engineering projects.
- Effective stakeholder management to ensure that proposed concepts deliver the best overall outcomes for APLNG project.
- Skilled in consultation/communication/ influencing key stakeholders across both the Integrated Gas and APLNG businesses to promote the benefits of new surface facility developments or modifications ensuring buy-in and/or approvals, as necessary. Demonstrated ability to proactively seek out opportunities to learn and integrate ideas from stakeholders with diverse perspectives.
- Demonstrated strong initiative, work ethic, integrity, and ownership of the development of fit-for-purpose surface facility designs and cost reduction initiatives.
- Demonstrated strong focus on HSE and process safety, ensuring all projects align with safety standards and best practices. Effective problem solving and analytical skills to identify and evaluate multiple development and Brownfields options, providing clear recommendations on the optimum concept. Always considers the broad implications of work, approaching issues from a big-picture perspective to ensure comprehensive solutions.
- Experience in working with schedulers to set up project timelines and milestones, ensuring that all activities are effectively integrated into the broader project plan and that progress is communicated transparently to all stakeholders.
