About The Role:

 

The Senior Grid Modelling Engineer is a key position responsible for developing and modelling complex grid and generator performance models to achieve optimal grid connections for major project opportunities. With a strong focus on compliance with regulations and procedures, this role collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and manages specialist consultants. From project initiation to execution, the Senior Grid Modelling Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring technical work requirements are met and represents Origin during testing and engagement with external groups.

  • Produce complex grid and generating system models for compliance with Generator Performance Standards and grid connections to the National Electricity Market
  • Manage specialist consultants for grid modelling and analysis, ensuring effective project delivery
  • Cultivate relationships with engineering teams at the Australian Energy Market Operator and National Electricity Market participants
  • Lead engagement with state-based authorities and negotiate necessary approvals and agreements
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, approving technical positions and managing risks and issues related to grid modelling
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to advance grid connections, conduct feasibility studies, and provide expert advice for development projects

 

What you will bring?

 

  • Engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Australian market
  • Extensive experience in connecting new assets to the National Energy Market and conducting due diligence activities for grid connections and future grid options
  • Proficiency in software tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, DigSilent PowerFactory, and Python scripting, with expertise in performing grid connection studies during R0, R1, and R2 stages
  • In-depth understanding of the AEMO Integrated System Plan, National Electricity Market regulations, and the Australian grid's future design, technologies, trends, and solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and produce high-quality reports
  • Strong teamwork, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities
