Senior Financial Accountant

About the role 

We're seeking a skilled finance professional to join our dynamic team and provide day-to-day financial services to APLNG. This role is a key part of our service-focused approach, where you will be responsible for the full financial and management accounting and reporting for the APLNG Consolidated Group. You will work closely with Upstream and Downstream Operators and other service providers to ensure the delivery of robust financial results. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing timely and accurate information, offering technical accounting advice, maintaining strong internal controls, and recommending system enhancements to streamline our processes. 

More about the role: 

• Co-ordination and assisting with the preparation of the half year and full year consolidated and subsidiary financial statements including preparing and driving the delivery of the statutory reporting financial statements, assisting in the preparation of Audit Committee papers, preparation of consolidation reconciliations and workpapers, analytical review procedures and actioning changes and new disclosures associated with the financial statements. 

• Providing support and insight on monthly management reporting to APLNG and Origin including review and approval of journals, review of APLNG consolidated financial result, review of balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of budget and forecast information for the CSP team, and providing insight into business performance to add value to APLNG and its shareholders. 

• Assisting in the assessment of new accounting standards and their impact on APLNG. 

• Review of Corporate Services recharges to APLNG, including providing advice on the Corporate Service Agreement to ensure it is being adhered to. 

• APLNG stakeholder management with respect to the finance services, including APLNG, APLNG's Operators and Origin Corporate groups. 

• Assisting with technical accounting queries on an ad-hoc basis including writing of technical accounting papers. 

• Driving process implementation and improvements to deliver increased efficiency and enhanced financial control. 

• Supervision and coaching of junior members of team and influencing other stakeholders in other teams.

More about you  

• CA or CPA Qualified with proven financial accounting and statutory reporting experience which includes preparation of statutory financial statements under IFRS 

• Experience with multi entity, multi-currency consolidations 

• Attention to detail and ability to critically analyse information and synthesise to deliver insight and identify issues and anomalies 

• Self-directed, motivated and focused 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Strong stakeholder management skills 

Desirable requirements 

• Experience in Oracle, SAP or other Top Tier financial accounting system 

• Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and/or SAP Group Reporting 

• Experience operating in customer focused finance service roles and/or joint ventures 

• An understanding of the Oil and Gas Industry would be beneficial
