About the role
A key role reporting to the Economics Lead is responsible for acting as an interface between the IG Integrated Planning (IP) team, the Assets, and the rest of the business. You will be an expert in economic modelling and associated IP processes and have a deep understanding of the how production, cost and macro-economic factors impact the business. This role will focus on running economics associated with the APLNG business, including supporting delivery of operated and non-operated developments and new commercial, exploration and investment /divestment opportunities. You may also assist in the training and mentorship of less experienced economists in their career development.

- Lead the economic valuation of complex business initiatives, including asset and M&A opportunities, using tools like stochastic modelling
- Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support key decision-making for senior management and shareholders.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to develop and implement economic analysis systems and lead project benefits reviews.
- Develop and present clear, concise economic and financial reports to a variety of stakeholders, including joint venture partners and corporate leadership.
- Support the development of negotiation strategies by providing timely and accurate economic and financial information.
- Mentor and provide insights to other team members, contributing to the overall growth and success of the team.
- Take ownership of deliverables and embrace an agile mindset, proactively pursuing data and insights to maintain a high quality of work.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking to tackle complex process problems and business drivers.

More about you
- Extensive experience as a Senior Economist ideally within in the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of global and Australian macroeconomic drivers within the industry.
- Hold a formal tertiary qualification in finance, economics, or engineering, with a master's degree or higher preferred.
- Show a strong track record of influencing complex economic decisions and strategic planning within an operating asset environment.
- Exhibit expert abilities in Excel.
- Display a comprehensive understanding of the entire oil and gas value chain, from exploration to operations.
- Comfortably prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and other high-level stakeholders.
- Leverage highly developed communication and people skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
