THE ROLE

 

This role is pivotal in evaluating and communicating the commercial impacts of litigation issues to senior management and external stakeholders. As a key member of the Commercial team, you'll apply your expertise in economic modelling to assess how production, cost, and macroeconomic factors affect the business. Your responsibilities include developing intricate models, explaining historical data, and conducting scenario analyses that are easily interpretable by senior leaders.

 

You will leverage your deep understanding of business structures and commercial agreements to deliver high-quality, independent evaluations of complex investment decisions. Building relationships across Origin and APLNG, you will provide clear, concise guidance to senior stakeholders and offer solutions to navigate various supply, demand, counterparty, and portfolio scenarios.

 

Responsibilities

  • Frame, run and present complex economic analysis to support decision-making by stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial and legal teams to gather and validate data to support formal legal processes
  • Support the Commercial Manager to provide economic and financial information and detailed quantitative analysis and insights necessary to inform the management of dispute processes by assist external and internal advisors
  • Lead cross functional teams and stakeholder groups to jointly develop parameters required for subsequent economic analysis. Assure the accuracy of data and historic modelling.
  • Be collaborative, analytical, and commercially-minded with the ability to solve complex process problems and demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Ability to understand complex business drivers and translate them to insightful reporting analysis.
  • Proactively pursue sources of data and insight needed to complete analysis and ensure pace of progress and quality of outputs are maintained in line with expectations  required  for legal dispute processes.
  • Engage with analysts and managers across Integrated Gas, Origin and APLNG stakeholders who have a variety of backgrounds and skillsets and bring them together to create    effective teams that identify value adding insights and outcomes
  • Adopt a learning mindset and take personal responsibility for continuous performance improvement, and for supporting the ongoing growth and success of the Commercial team against its objectives.
  • Embrace agile ways of working and demonstrate ownership, pride and accountability for all deliverables.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Be an expert in economic modelling
  • Possess highly developed problem-solving abilities and excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Have proven experience in assessing commercial and strategic opportunities and influencing outcomes whilst coaching the business on what they need
  • You must have the ability to think quickly whilst you understand and interpret requests
  • You will be considered self-motivated and comfortably manage multiple priorities while maintaining all necessary stakeholder relationships to ensure business success

 

More about you:

 

  • 7 - 10 year’s experience in upstream oil and gas
  • Formal tertiary qualification in finance / economics / engineering
  • A deep understanding of macroeconomic drivers of upstream oil & gas in Australia and globally
  • Economic/commercial modelling experience and working knowledge of accounting, finance and contractual frameworks
  • Strong track record of involvement in complex economic decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations
  • An understanding of all aspects of the oil and gas value chain from exploration, and appraisal through to development and operations
  • Experience in strategic management and planning in an operating asset environment
  • Experience communicating at senior management level
  • Highly developed communication and people skills
  • Strong health safety and environmental focus
  • Ability to solve complex economic problems and demonstrate critical thinking
