About the role:

The Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) business is a world-class CSG production business where Origin is the upstream operator and domestic gas marketing agent. APLNG is the leading producer of CSG in Queensland, supplying international LNG customers and approximately 30% of Australia's east coast domestic customers. This key role is part of the Asset West Production Engineering team that’s meeting the worlds growing demand for energy and searching for tomorrow’s solutions to maximise production, lower the cost of gas supply and decarbonise Origin operations.  

The Production Engineering Lead (Spring Gully) is responsible for safely and reliably delivering gas supply from operated assets, including Spring Gully, to meet customer, contractual, and shareholder commitments. The Production team plays a critical role in maximising asset value through production delivery, optimisation, and performance assurance aligned to Origin’s strategic objectives.

In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership and operational guidance to ensure safe, reliable and optimised production from the Spring Gully field. You’ll work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, fostering an environment where different backgrounds, experiences and ideas are welcomed. With a balance of technical depth and inclusive leadership, you’ll support performance delivery and uplift capability across the Production Engineering team.

• Lead safe and reliable production performance aligned to operational plans and targets.
• Develops and maintains clear, inclusive priorities to guide optimisation, recovery, and intervention activities
• Develop production performance and enhancement strategies that balance reliability, integrity and value while considering diverse viewpoints.
• Identify and progress improvement by supporting a culture of continuous learning through collaboration, root cause failure analysis, technology and operating trials and sharing of knowledge.   
• Lead key inputs and program activities for well integrity management, short term production planning, work program and budget and performance optimization.
• Coach and empower production engineers and technicians, supporting growth, confidence and equitable access to development.

What will you bring?

• Extensive experience in CSG or upstream oil & gas, Mechanical/Petroleum/Chemical engineering degree, ideally in Production Engineering.
• Inclusive leadership capability, with a commitment to mentoring, collaboration and respectful communication.
• Strong technical expertise in artificial lift, production optimisation and asset performance.
• A relevant engineering qualification and ability to work effectively across diverse teams. RPEQ registered
• Analytical strength, clear pro-active decision-making and risk management, openness to new ideas and diverse perspectives.
