If you’re driven by purpose and excited to be part of something bigger, we’d love to have you on the journey

About the role:

As a Petroleum Engineering Graduate at Origin, you'll build your career at one of Australia's largest domestic gas producers. From day one, you'll be trusted with real technical work on producing wells and reservoirs, working alongside experienced engineers who've built careers in the industry.

Beginning in February 2027, you'll embark on a three-year rotational program across our petroleum engineering teams, with exposure to the full lifecycle of producing assets, from field appraisal and development planning through to production optimisation on operating wells. As Origin continues to invest in growing our gas business and delivering reliable energy to Australian households and industry, you'll be part of the team making that growth happen.

Your work could include analysing reservoir performance data, supporting drilling and completions planning, contributing to field development strategy, and working on the technical decisions that keep our wells producing safely and efficiently. You'll spend time in our Brisbane office and on-site at our gas operations, getting the mix of office-based technical work and genuine field exposure that's hard to find elsewhere.

What you will bring

We're looking for motivated and technically strong graduates with degrees in Petroleum Engineering (undergraduate or postgraduate).

Ideal candidates will be curious problem-solvers, confident communicators, and keen to apply technical knowledge to real-world reservoir and production challenges.

You'll be eager to develop your petroleum engineering expertise across drilling, completions, reservoir, and production, and comfortable with both office-based analytical work and regular site work.

How to prepare

Take a look at Origin's business and the areas where we're growing. Understanding where Origin is investing and how our different energy businesses work together will help you shape a strong application and prepare well for the interview stages.

Graduate roles are based in Brisbane, with significant time on-site at our gas operations.

You must hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (PR) to be eligible for this opportunity and be available to start full-time work in February 2027.
