The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Hydrogeologist to join Origin with responsibility for groundwater management in the Spring Gully & Denison Asset - plus also providing technical hydrogeological input and assistance across other assets of APLNG and Origin’s growth assets.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Structure and modify the regional groundwater monitoring program to ensure appropriate coverage to determine impacts of CSG production and compliance with regulatory requirements, project approval conditions, and EIS commitments
  • Maintenance of compliance plans (Stage 2 CSG Water Monitoring and Management Plan, Joint Industry Plan for an Early Warning System for the Monitoring and Protection of EPBC Springs, APLNG Groundwater Monitoring Plan) to achieve ongoing efficiencies in compliance effort
  • Continuous interpretation of collected data, identification of deviations from regional trends, follow up and investigation
  • Lead the assessment of emerging hydrogeological fields relevant to the approval and operation of the existing and new production, and pioneering approaches in collaboration with regulators to accommodate monitoring and management into the business
  • Represent the business in external research partnerships, and be primarily responsible for the identification of internal research, publication, and presentation opportunities
  • Assist in preparation of groundwater submissions in support of state and federal project approvals

Is This You?

To be considered for this position you will possess the following:

  • Bachelor Degree in Geosciences
  • 5+ years relevant experience in hydrogeology / groundwater
  • Petroleum/Gas/CSG experience is essential
  • Previous regulatory experience or a background in research is also beneficial
