The Role

The Growth Assets team manages all of Origin's non-APLNG upstream gas assets and opportunities, delivering the Integrated Gas strategy through finding, appraising and optimising the value of our assets (initially, Beetaloo, Ironbark, Poseidon and Heytesbury with the potential for future growth).

We are seeking a genuine HSE Lead; whose experience will ensure the required expertise and capability are brought to bear to address the required criteria across the full range of Health, Safety and Environment risks and opportunities.

This exciting new opportunity will see you support the Growth Assets' team in the delivery of asset outcomes; ensuring HSE risks are effectively managed through all activities.  The role will also play a key role in supporting implementation of recommendations from the Northern Territory's Scientific Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation. 

  • Establish Growth Assets HSE Management plans, ensure delivery of those plans, and complete regular reviews of plans with a focus on continous improvement
  • Deliver all environmental approvals, through preparation and submission of required documentation, management of consultants and liason with relevant government bodies and industry review groups, and ensure ongoing compliance with the conditions presented with those approvals
  • Support Origin, Industry and the Northern Territory Government where relevant to implement fit for purpose actions following the findings of the Scientific Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation in the NT
  • Support the Operations and Projects Lead to maintain HSE risk registers for projects and ongoing opertaions, including supporting regular reviews of registers
  • Responsible for the ongoing continuous improvement, monitoring and implementation of the HSE management System, including all HSE standards, directives, processes and production/Conventional Operations procedures
  • Lead liaison with internal discipline specialists and external contractors / suppliers; to ensure that projects and systems are compliant with HSE plans and statutory requirements
  • Coach Growth Asset team members and contractors to meet Origin's HSE outcomes, including coaching in specific techniques such as safety conversations, controls verification, 5 Whys, investigations, and risk assessements
  • Execute HSE elements of contractor management directive, ensuring contractors are suitably qualified to work for Origin


Is This You?

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Environment (Degree or Diploma)
  • Significant experience in lead HSE role, gained in Oil and Gas exploration and appraisal activities
  • Previous experience operating under the Northern Territory's & Queensland's regulatory framework – highly advantageous (but not essential)
  • Proven exceptional coaching and influencing skills – able to influence internally & externally at all levels of management, varying professions / trade qualifications. Lead and manage cross functional teams to achieve planned goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams at all levels; inspiring creativity and action, and influencing broadly to reach optimal outcomes for the business
  • Sound knowledge of risk management processes
  • Proven experience in project and operational delivery
  • Relevant legislative knowledge
