About the role:

 

Reporting to the Strategic Approvals Manager, your role as the Environment Approvals Lead will be focussed on the delivery of primary approvals to enable exploration and production activities. You will have a contemporary working understanding of relevant legislative requirements. You will support the identification, development and implementation of improvements, including influencing changes to regulatory frameworks. You will be a champion for continuous improvement in the development of effective internal processes that are outcomes focussed and fit for purpose.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead the identification and delivery of primary approvals (such as Coordinator General, Commonwealth and State approvals) required for exploration and production activities in accordance with project schedules
  • Steward the internal business process as they relate to securing external and internal approvals to ensure they are robust, fit-for-purpose and cost effective
  • Identify and influence internal practices and regulatory reform to achieve IG business value (for example, to reduce environmental approvals timeframes, and drive simplification, standardisation and efficiency in meeting environmental approvals requirements)
  • Ensure environmental approvals portfolio risks and controls (including access delivery risks) are reviewed, updated and documented
  • Liaise with key environmental regulators and other external stakeholders to achieve environmental approvals portfolio objectives  

 

What will you bring?

 

Using your highly advanced stakeholder management skills you will develop and partner with regulators, industry, industry groups, service providers and other business partners to support portfolio objectives and outcomes. You enjoy working in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment where no day is the same.  

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (such as science, environmental science, environmental management or environmental engineering) 
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience of either major project approvals (including EIS processes) or environmental approvals in the petroleum & gas, mining or heavy industry sector (gained in industry or government);
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills and experience, including the ability to collaborate and influence without exercising direct authority;
