The Role

Origin’s Brisbane Central Control Room (BCCR) is a newly constructed facility, using state-of-the-art technologies to control Origin’s upstream operations network for APLNG as the upstream operator. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a highly skilled team on a journey of continuous improvement and optimisation.

This exciting and rare period (post-development of the APLNG project phase) offers you the opportunity to define both the direction and the identity of the BCCR; as you take advantage of delivering the huge opportunities to optimise and improve our wide variety of upstream assets within the portfolio (eg: wells, GPFs and pipelines) as we move into our BAU phase of our business. As the BCCR Manager you will:

  • Lead the BCCR Team in efficient delivery of operations of the APLNG upstream operating asset portfolio, while establishing a culture of ownership and accountability as you lead the portfolio optimisation journey with site-based asset teams and other business partners
  • Budget ownership to meet operating and capital cost targets
  • Handling major contracts with control systems supplier and external service providers
  • Ensure compliance across all BCCR activities, including core compliance training for team members, reporting and incident investigation

Is This You?

You are a collaborative leader with significant experience leading large complex operations, preferably in a control room or remote operations environment, with a keen focus on continuous improvement and asset optimisation. Applicants from other industry sector backgrounds are encouraged to apply in order to inspire a diversity of thought leadership and new ideas. A background in facility or field management at a senior level in oil and gas production operations would also be viewed favourably.

You are highly motivated, with the ability to influence and encourage others. Your relationship management and negotiation skills will be key to your success as you engage with internal and external partners to achieve business objectives. The following experiences will be highly regarded:

  • Technical Degree Qualification (engineering, sciences etc), or relevant Trade Qualification preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading cultural change to increase team engagement, team support, development planning and performance management
  • Deep understanding of automation / control systems engineering with excellent understanding of engineering standards for control rooms and control systems
  • Emergency Response management
  • Commercial acumen and financial skills to manage budgets
