Join a team that's All Kinds of Useful

At Origin, being useful is more than a tagline - it’s how we approach work every day. As a collective, we’re a team that thrives on finding better ways, working together, and owning our impact. From powering homes to delivering award-winning internet and helping to lead Australia’s energy transition. If you’re driven by purpose and excited to be part of something bigger, we’d love to have you on the journey.

About the role:

As the Completions & Stimulation Lead, you’ll guide a skilled and collaborative engineering team across completions and fracture stimulation activities for both development and exploration programs.

You’ll influence safe, innovative, and compliant well design and execution, while creating an environment where people feel supported, respected, and empowered to contribute.

You’ll provide technical leadership, encourage diverse thinking, and help engineers build confidence through coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to stretch into new areas.

This role suits a people‑centred leader who values inclusive decision‑making, strong technical judgement, and a proactive approach to innovation in well delivery.

Why the role matters?

  • You provide technical oversight of completion design element — tubulars, artificial lift, gauges, solid control, zonal isolation —and ensure designs meet production requirements and well integrity standards across life‑of‑well.
  • You will lead stimulation strategy and execution with oversight of frac design (fluid systems, proppant selection, staging, diversion), treating pressures, offset analysis, and post‑frac clean‑up/flowback optimisation.
  • You govern operational risk and change management—well control barriers, pressure testing, contingency procedures—and drive continuous HSE improvement with a sharp focus on process safety.
  • You apply an owner’s mindset to technology and value: evaluating new tools and chemistries, and execution methods.
  • You underpin onshore CSG development performance by integrating subsurface insights (reservoir/geo‑mechanics) with completion/stimulation parameters.

What will you bring?

  • A strong safety mindset and the ability to positively influence culture through empathy, clarity, and confident leadership.
  • Tertiary engineering qualifications, RPEQ registration (or the ability to obtain), and extensive well‑engineering experience, ideally within onshore unconventional developments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience where you have uplifted others, built trust, and created inclusive, high‑performing teams.
  • IWCF supervisory well control certification, along with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong technical judgement, experience across well delivery, and the confidence to lead with an owner’s mindset—especially when guiding innovation, technology adoption, or complex decision‑making.

So, why join us?

  • Discounted Origin products benefits for employees, including Electrical, Gas and Internet offers!
  • 21 weeks of paid parental leave for primary carers with flexible return options.
  • Competitive salary + annual performance bonus + performance-based reviews
  • Origin 360 Electric Vehicles (EV) employee subscription offers a fantastic range of EVs, with flexible month-to-month plans and no lock-in contract.
