About the role:
Drive impact at the heart of the energy transition in this high-impact risk analytics role. You’ll develop and optimize risk and trading models across Origin’s energy trading portfolios, interest rate, and currency position, leveraging Origin’s Commodity Risk Management Systems (CRMS)
Reporting to the Risk Systems Manager, you’ll refine best-practice risk methodologies, model Earnings at Risk and Value at Risk, and deliver executive-level risk reporting, all while playing a key role in navigating the future of energy markets.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enhance quantitative risk and trading models to support decision-making.
- Run, debug, and improve models to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- Manage data requirements for risk modeling, ensuring timely and accurate inputs.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including trading teams, to validate risk modeling assumptions.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of risk reporting.
- Interpret data from multiple sources, assess risks, and identify areas for model improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and enhance risk modeling practices.
What will you bring?
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g. quantitative finance, finance, economics, engineering, CFA, GARP.
- Experience in a risk management/middle office analytical function.
- Understanding of portfolio risk measures [EaR, VaR, CFaR, etc.]
- Advanced Python, SQL & Excel VBA skills.
- Preferred experience or curiosity in energy markets
- Strong communication skills
