About the role:
This role has opened following an internal promotion and offers the opportunity to support Origin’s Energy Trading Technology team by delivering daily operational support and functional analysis across the energy trading and risk management system, Allegro, that underpins key Energy Risk Management and Wholesale & Trading activities.
You’ll work within a cross-functional team to troubleshoot issues, deliver system enhancements, and ensure reliable, high-quality operation of cloud-based trading systems.
The position requires strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the Allegro commodity trade and risk management system, resolving 1st and 2nd level issues, service requests, data tasks, and system disruptions.
- Perform requirements gathering, functional analysis, solution design, and documentation to support feature delivery and system enhancements.
- Conduct detailed data analysis, support user acceptance testing, and ensure delivered solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Manage incidents and problems using ITIL processes and tools such as JIRA, ensuring timely resolution and minimising business risk.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders, participating in agile ceremonies and aligning work to squad priorities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, contribute to process improvements, and identify opportunities to automate and reduce recurring support tickets.
- Support senior team members with issue escalation, prioritisation, and decision-making, while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
Skills & Requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience in a functional support, IT business analyst, or similar technical role.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and propose innovative solutions.
- Strong SQL and data analysis capability, with experience using Excel for data manipulation.
- Effective communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to prioritise workload, work autonomously, and take initiative while meeting deadlines.
- Understanding of software development concepts, DevOps processes, and experience supporting application releases.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Engineering, or a related field, with experience working in Agile environments.
