About the role:
 

As a Tax Manager - Indirect, you will oversee indirect tax compliance for Origin and APLNG, including GST, withholding tax, excise duty, customs, and state-based levies.

Working closely with the Group Manager, Indirect Tax, this role focuses on ensuring full compliance while driving process improvements.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Managing GST compliance for Origin and APLNG corporate groups.
  • Oversee work by tax compliance service providers for other indirect taxes.
  • Prepare General Ledger reconciliations for Indirect Tax accounts and ensure alignment with lodged Business Activity Statements.
  • Implement and manage process improvements for GST and Business Activity Statement preparation.
  • Support the compliance management of other indirect taxes for Origin and APLNG.
  • Review and ensure compliance management with indirect tax advice and risk governance frameworks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including Group Tax, Finance, and Business units.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders, including the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Reviewing system design, implementation and post implementation activities to ensure compliance with indirect tax laws.
  • Assist with rulings and other administrative matters.

 

What will you bring?

 

  • Degree qualifications in accounting or taxation.
  • Membership of a professional accounting or taxation association such as the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia, or Taxation Institute of Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in in a large corporate and/or Big 4 accounting firm, with hands-on experience in GST compliance, including BAS preparation.
  • Experience with systems and processes including SAP S4 HANA in a large corporate environment.
  • Strong accounting knowledge In particular double entry accounting.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills and a mindset that always looks to improve.
