The Role
Origin owns and operates one of Australia's largest power generation portfolios, comprising a fleet of gas, coal, renewable generation, and storage assets across the east coast. Origin’s strategic priorities are to grow cleaner energy and customer solutions and deliver reliable energy through the transition.
In your role as Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll be utilising your sound engineering experience to maintain and improve process safety, asset management, asset performance, plant availability, and reliability, and a commitment to quality outcomes. Your natural ability to manage and engage with internal and external stakeholders will support you with collaborating across the Generation business and provide ideal solutions to operate our assets efficiently and reliably. Your role as a Senior Electrical Engineer shall provide engineering leadership to the Generation & Energy Transition and & Development businesses.

Independently perform, enhance, and support the following functions as a Senior Engineer:
- Scoping, challenging and technical oversight/support for electrical design and site works associated with Power Generation
- Maintain key relationships with Equipment Manufacturers, Service Providers and Industry Groups associated with Power Generation Equipment
- Work as a Subject Matter Expert within and support the Technical Authority Framework and Management of Change procedure
- Review, justify and communicate recommendations for equipment selection, installation, operation and maintenance
- Work collaboratively across relevant business areas in the development of commercial strategies and modes of operation to deliver design and performance improvements (for example, provision of ancillary services)
- Reviewing and analysing SCADA data to assess the performance of operating power generating facilities.
- Lead complex electrical fault-finding, diagnostics and remediation activities to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operation of generation assets.
- Contribution to the development, review and ongoing support of asset management strategies and processes to ensure fleet equipment meet their intended design life at the lowest sustainable life-cycle costs
- Develop procedures and technical documentation regarding safe, reliable, and efficient operations and maintenance of power Generation equipment
- Work closely with the asset digital team to develop performance analytics and monitoring strategies including predictive analytics
- Develop professional relationships and effectively work with personnel across departments in an integrated organisation in performance of duties
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians, fostering capability development and a high-performance, values-aligned team culture.
Is this you?
Your resume should be able to demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechatronics’ engineering - Accredited to the Washington Accord
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Electrical engineering with low and high voltage equipment
- CPEng or equivalent; or commitment to achieve this within 6 months of joining team
- Safety focus for people and equipment
- Critically analyse technical problems, formulate solutions
- Capability to provide whole of life thinking to an asset
- Experience in Asset Management through Asset Management Procedures and Programs
- Leadership for technical situations with the ability to take Initiative on key technical requirements or safety Implications
- Power station or heavy industry experience (particularly in large generation facilities) favorable
- Be available for short-notice travel to site for faults and outage support trips several times per year (potentially interstate)
