The Role

Our People Connect team provide a single point of contact within People & Culture (P&C) for all Origin employees to ask questions, receive advice and coaching regarding the interpretation and application of HR policies, processes and systems.  These services will be delivered within a centralised advisory function across all areas of the business within Australia.

You will be working in a close knit shared service environment whereby the national team can take anywhere from 80-100 calls per day (across the team) on any generalist enquiry. 
The purpose of this position is to provide consistent generalist HR advice and coaching to our employees and managers.  

You will be responsible for:

  • Interpreting and providing consistent and high quality advice on policies and procedures drawing on experience and judgement to support managers in making sound people management decisions
  • Coaching support to managers in all areas of people management including performance management and having difficult conversations
  • Keeping abreast of changes in Origin company policy and employment legislation ensuring that advice is in line with current state policy and legislation at all times
  • Support the transfer of skills to manager encouraging them to take ownership of people matters
  • Delivery of exceptional customer service across all mediums of communication
  • Tracking and monitoring query volume to enable continuous improvement across the P&C Function

Is This You?

To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate expertise in diagnosing people management issues, be able to individually coach managers to deal with and resolve people management queries. You will need to be resilient and customer service focussed.

 To be considered for this role you'll have:

  • HR Generalist qualification or similar
  • 3-5  years experience within HR
  • Proven capacity to work in a team environment
  • Previous experience in a high volume transactional corporate HR environment would be highly regarded
  • Effective time management and work prioritisation capabilities
  • Experience in interpreting, advising and implementing policies, agreements and procedures
  • Proven ability to coach managers and guide them in making sound decisions
  • Confidence to challenge decisions and recommendations where appropriate
  • The ability to research, analyse and reason logically within tight and conflicting timeframes
  • High level customer service experience
  • Experience in providing advice and support to senior managers on people related matters

It's important to highlight that this position will see you working in a niche collaborative call centre environment, answering multiple calls per day providing people and culture advice to our business. This in a full time 38 hour per week position that will require you to work on a rotating roster between hours of 7.45am – 6.15pm mon-fri.
